Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 993 asked in the Legislative Council on 17 October 2018 by Hon Ken Baston

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

SENIOR DRIVER'S LICENCE RENEWAL — DERBY

993. Hon KEN BASTON to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:

I refer to the answer to question without notice 960 asked on 16 October 2018 regarding charges at Derby Hospital.

(1) What is the minimum and maximum length of time allocated to appointments costing $280 at Derby Hospital?

(2) Is this $280 charge standard across regional and metropolitan Western Australia?

(3) Is the schedule of charges advertised or available online?

(4) Are there any circumstances in which a person would receive this service for little or no charge in the town of Derby?

Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) Derby Hospital bills a driver's medical assessment per occasion, thus there is no minimum or maximum length of time allocated for the service.

(2) Yes. This is the standard outpatient charge as prescribed in the ''WA Health Patient Fees and Charges Manual''.

(3) The ''WA Health Patient Fees and Charges Manual'' is publicly available. The cost of the medical assessment is advertised on noticeboards within Derby Hospital.

(4) Eligible patients of the Derby Aboriginal Health Service can receive the same service for $165.
