CORONAVIRUS —
PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS
932. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
My question without notice is asked
on behalf of Hon Jim Chown, who is on urgent parliamentary business.
(1) Could the Premier please supply
the state unemployment rate for —
(a) January 2020;
(b) May 2020; and
(c) current to date; and
could the Premier advise how this
rate equates to the actual number of people unemployed for each of —
(a) January 2020;
(b) May 2020; and
(c) current to date?
(2) How many
additional public servants have been employed in this state since Western Australia's
first reported case of coronavirus on 21 February 2020?
(3) Will the
Premier please provide a breakdown by department for the number of additional
public servants employed by the state since 21 February 2020?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The
Australian Bureau of Statistics updates and revises labour force figures on a monthly
basis. For the benefit of the honourable member, statistics for August will be
updated tomorrow, 17 September 2020, and will likely include revised statistics
for the months referred to in the member's question.
(3) The breakdown
of public sector jobs will be reported in the upcoming ''State of the
Sector'' report, to be tabled later this year.
