WESTPORT TASKFORCE —
KWINANA PORT
885. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Minister for Ports:
I refer to the latest Westport
Taskforce report that identifies a land-backed port in Cockburn Sound as the number
one option.
(1) Have any indicative capital
costs been prepared for option 1?
(2) If yes, what is the indicative
capital cost of a new port broken down into —
(a) the land-backed port;
(b) rail upgrades;
(c) road upgrades; and
(d) any other costs?
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN
replied:
I thank the
member for the question.
(1)–(2) As
outlined in the ''Westport Beacon'', issue 8, the high-level cost
estimate for the new port at the outer harbour and associated supply chain
upgrades is approximately $4 billion. This figure is a preliminary working
estimate based on the information available to the Westport Taskforce at the
time of the first multi-criteria analysis.
The
Westport Taskforce will be undertaking more detailed cost analysis during the
next stage of the project, with cost breakdowns to be provided as part
of its stage 2 outcomes report to government in early 2020.
