CORONAVIRUS — TOURISM INDUSTRY — RECOVERY PACKAGE

609. Hon KEN BASTON to the minister representing the Minister for Tourism:

I refer to the tourism recovery fund eligibility criteria.

(1) How many paid members do each of the following regional tourism organisations have —

(a) Destination Perth;

(b) Australia's Coral Coast;

(c) Australia's Golden Outback;

(d) Australia's North West; and

(e) Australia's South West?

(2) Have these RTOs made it clear in their membership prospectuses that failure to join could exclude them from industry-specific government assistance packages?

(3) How many applications to access the tourism recovery fund have been received?

Hon DARREN WEST replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. On behalf of the minister representing the Minister for Tourism, I provide the following answer.

(1) (a) There are 283.

(b) There are 114.

(c) There are 182.

(d) There are 203.

(e) There are 242.

(2) No. This is an extraordinary circumstance and the regional tourism operators' membership prospectuses are focused on marketing benefits as that is their core business.

(3) There were 1 137 applications by the 12 June closing date.
