Question On Notice No. 2549 asked in the Legislative Council on 26 September 2019 by Hon Tim Clifford

Question Directed to the: Minister for Environment representing the Minister for Energy
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Question

I refer to stakeholder consultation undertaken in the development of the State Government’s Greenhouse Gas Policy, and I ask will the Minister please table details of any communication regarding the Greenhouse Gas Policy with the following organisations, including correspondence, emails, letters, phone calls, briefing notes, diary appointments, meeting minutes, meeting dates and records of attendance:
(a) Chevron;
(b) Woodside;
(c) Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association;
(d) Association of Mining and Exploration Companies; and
(e) Chamber of Minerals and Energy?

Answered on 31 October 2019

The Premier responded with decisive leadership to the call for certainty from WA industry after the release of the, now withdrawn, EPA Guidelines on Greenhouse Gas Emissions. He tasked me as the Minister for Energy to undertake initial consultations with industry to develop a state emissions policy. I met with a range of stakeholders to discuss the parameters of this policy, including Chevron, Woodside, Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association and later the Chamber of Minerals and Energy, as well the Conservation Council of Western Australia.
