JOINT SELECT COMMITTEE ON
PALLIATIVE CARE IN WESTERN
AUSTRALIA
426. Hon COLIN HOLT to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the government's
commitment to the establishment of a select committee into palliative care in Western
Australia.
(1) When will a motion be presented
to the Legislative Council to establish the committee?
(2) When will that committee report
to both houses of Parliament?
(3) What funding will be provided to
the committee to ensure that it fully meets its terms of reference?
(4) The
government said it would move a motion to establish the committee in February
2020. Other than the current pandemic, why has there been a delay in bringing
this motion to the Legislative Council?
Hon ALANNA CLOHESY
replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Once the
terms of reference are finalised, a motion to establish this committee will be
moved in the Legislative Council. Discussions with parties have been ongoing
since February.
(2) It is
anticipated that the committee will report by November 2020.
(3) Funding will
be determined once the terms of reference are finalised.
(4) The current
COVID-19 health pandemic has significantly impacted the time line for the
development and establishment of this joint select committee.
