CITY OF MELVILLE —
INQUIRY
676. Hon SIMON O'BRIEN to the
Leader of the House representing the Minister for Local Government:
Further to my question without
notice 298 of 3 April 2019—and, indeed, my questions in June, August,
September and November 2018 and February 2019—I again refer to the
Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries–authorised
inquiry into the City of Melville.
(1) What stage has the inquiry
reached, and what stages of the process remain to be completed?
(2) What time
frame has the minister set for finalising the necessary processes, for tabling
the report and for giving a government response?
(3) If no time frame is set, why
not?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) As previously
advised, a draft report relating to the authorised inquiry into the City of
Melville has been completed and provided to the city for comment and feedback.
Relevant sections of the draft report have been provided to other parties to
the inquiry, who have also provided feedback and comment. Submissions and
feedback on the draft report were required by 5 March 2019. The department is
currently finalising the report. Once the report is finalised, the report will
be provided to the minister.
(2)–(3) The
process is controlled by the department and the minister has no legislative
ability to intervene.
