Parliament: 40 Session: 1
SPECIALIST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION UNIT — RECOMMISSIONING
645. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the minister representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to the government's commitment to recommission the WA Police specialist domestic violence investigation unit.
(1) Has the unit been recommissioned?
(2) If yes to (1), when did the unit become operational?
(3) If no to (1), why not; and, when is the unit scheduled to become operational?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for Police.
(1)–(3) In March 2017, WA Police introduced the family violence special case team, composed of dedicated investigators who are responsible for the investigation of perpetrators who commit multiple offences with multiple victims, across multiple police districts.
