ENGINEERS' REGISTRATION SCHEME

1109. Hon ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the Minister for Commerce:

I refer to my question without notice 1255 answered on 28 November 2018 and the recent passing in Victoria of the Professional Engineers Registration Bill 2019.

(1) Has a set of consistent national registration requirements now been established?

(2) When does the minister anticipate that a similar bill might be tabled in Western Australia?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the member for the question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for Commerce.

(1) No.

(2) The government is currently considering a series of reforms to the legislative framework for the building and construction industry. Registration of engineers who work in the building industry is being considered as part of these reforms.
