430. Hon SIMON O'BRIEN to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Heritage:
(1) Is the
government aware of the City of Fremantle's $1.8 million plan to
stabilise the cliffs of Arthur Head and rehabilitate the surrounding area,
including conservation of the Round House?
(2) Does the
government accept in principle that the state has some responsibility to assist
in such a project?
(3) What
financial or other assistance is the government prepared to provide to the City
of Fremantle to assist in delivering its plan?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2)–(3) Arthur
Head Reserve is vested in the City of Fremantle for the designated purpose of
historical buildings, recreation and community services. The Department of
Planning, Lands and Heritage is in discussion with the City of Fremantle
regarding the conservation of Arthur Head and the Round House.
