COMMUNITY KINDERGARTENS — ENROLMENTS
442. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to enrolment procedures for community
kindergartens.
(1) Can the
minister confirm that the principal from the relevant linked school is required
to inform prospective parents of the option to enrol their child in a kindergarten
program at either the linked school or the community kindergarten and must
ensure that office staff provide similar advice?
(2) Can the
minister confirm that community kindergarten teachers can accept enrolment
applications and these can be kept on the community kindergarten premises until
the close of applications?
(3) What
requirements are placed on principals to advise a community kindergarten's
parent management committee of enrolment numbers in a timely manner?

(1)–(2) Yes.
(3) The
requirements of principals of linked schools are set out in the operational
information for community kindergartens. It states —
Principals of the
linked schools:

manage enrolments in accordance with the Department's
Enrolment Policy in liaison with the community kindergarten teacher and advises
parent management committee of enrolment numbers and (with permission) names of
all children;
