POLICE — ABORIGINAL OFFICERS

1522. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the Minister for Police:

I refer to the 45 Aboriginal cadets recruited in 2018 by the Western Australia Police Force.

(1) How many are still with the agency?

(2) How many Aboriginal officers are currently deployed across the state?

(3) Does the percentage of Aboriginal police officers reflect the percentage of the population in WA identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister for Police. The Western Australia Police Force advises the following.

(1) Of the 33 officers recruited in 2018, 29 are still with the agency.

(2) There are 116.

(3) No.
