Question Without Notice No. 606 asked in the Legislative Council on 1 September 2021 by Hon James Hayward

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

HEALTHCARE WORKER IMMUNISATION POLICY

606. Hon JAMES HAYWARD to the minister representing the Minister for Health:

I ask this question on behalf of Hon Martin Aldridge, who is away on urgent parliamentary business.

I refer to the WA Department of Health's healthcare worker immunisation policy, which defines the minimum immunisation standards for health service employers to adopt to protect employees and patients from the threat of exposure to vaccine-preventable diseases.

(1) Which vaccines are recommended in the healthcare worker immunisation policy?

(2) Does the state government intend to review the healthcare worker immunisation policy to include COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare workers?

(3) What is the state government's policy regarding mandatory immunisation requirements for healthcare workers?

(4) Does the state government have any ability to set mandatory immunisation for healthcare workers?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following answer on behalf of the Minister for Health.

I have been advised by the Department of Health that further time is required to answer this question. The information will be provided to the honourable member by 2 September 2021.
