Question On Notice No. 1441 asked in the Legislative Council on 28 June 2018 by Hon Martin Aldridge

Question Directed to the: Minister for Environment representing the Minister for Transport
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Question

I refer to Legislative Council question on notice No. 1181, in relation to advertising material distributed by the Department of Transport, and I ask:
(a) in response to (1)(a), please identify the other advertising services offered by the Department of Transport;
(b) the Minister's answer to (1)(d) is not complete, I asked for the name of each organisation or individual and relevant costs incurred by them in relation to this advertising service for 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18; and
(c) if the Minister refuses to provide the information that I seek, when does the Minister intend to satisfy the Minister's responsibility under Section 82 of the Financial Management Act 2006?

Answered on 28 August 2018

(a) The Department of Transport (DoT) occasionally includes community service material in vehicle and driver mail at no charge to the organisation. Printing and insertion costs are paid by the organisation direct to the printer.

(b) DoT has a contractual arrangement with one contractor to insert approved advertising into its mail for a fixed quarterly fee. DoT is not privy to the financial arrangements made between DoT’s contractor and advertisers.

(c) Not applicable
