Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 460 asked in the Legislative Council on 23 August 2017 by Hon Jim Chown

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

MEDICINAL CANNABIS
      460. Hon JIM CHOWN to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the statement made in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, 24 May 2017 by Hon Roger Cook, Minister for Health, on medicinal cannabis. It states —
In June, the Premier and I will convene a round table of health leaders in Western Australia, to continue this public conversation about how we can ensure, as a government, that nothing stands in the way of people, from a prescriber's point of view or a patient's point of view, receiving medicinal cannabis to relieve their pain or address their chronic condition.
(1) Can the minister provide a list of organisations that had a presence at the round table meeting?
(2) Can the minister provide a list of attendees and details of the organisations that they are involved in?
(3) What outcomes were achieved at the meeting?
          (4) (a) Since the round table meeting, how many applications has the Department of Health received from medical practitioners seeking a licence to become cannabis-based prescribers?
      (b) How many of those applications have been approved?
Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The answer is a long list of people so I seek leave to incorporate it into Hansard.
Leave granted.
