PERTH STADIUM — PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
867. Hon JIM CHOWN to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the Perth Stadium pedestrian bridge and the extension of the completion date from March 2018 to May 2018.
(1) What financial penalties will be applied to York Rizzani Joint Venture due to the noncompliance of the March 2018 deadline for bridge completion?
(2) Will the minister give a definite date for the completion—meaning open to the public—of the Perth Stadium footbridge currently under construction?
(3) This is the favourite part of my question: now that the fabric wrap is no longer part of the design, what colour will the final bridge be?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) York Rizzani Joint Venture will forgo incentive payments of up to $2.6 million as a result of not meeting the 16 March 2018 completion date.
(2) The new target date for the bridge to be open is May 2018.
(3) The colours have not changed. The steel arches remain black and white.
