— MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT SERVICES
591. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer the minister to his response
to question without notice 383 asked on Tuesday, 3 August 2021, and to mental
health support services for police officers.
(1) How many of
the following are employed by the Western Australia Police Force for this
service —
(a) psychologists;
and
(b) psychiatrists?
(2) How much is
allocated for the contract services referred to in part (1) of the answer to
question without notice 383?
(3) How many chaplains are employed
by WAPOL?
(4) What other mental health support
services are provided by WAPOL for officers?

STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Police.
As is appropriate, given their
critical and challenging role, Western Australian police officers can access
more mental health support services than ever before.
The Western Australia Police Force
advises as follows.
(1) (a) There are 10.
(b) There are one.
(2) The amount allocated is $260 000
per annum.
(3) There are four.
(4) There is the peer support program; employee
assistance program, external counselling service; pre-deployment assessments; wellbeing reviews; critical incident
response crisis support service; welfare checks; fully funded external
treatment for police officers' work-related psychological conditions,
with no cap; reimbursement for police officers for non-work-related psychology
and psychiatry services, with no cap; visiting regional psychologist program,
designated locations; reassimilation program; and Police Family website.
