591. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the Minister for Police:

I refer the minister to his response to question without notice 383 asked on Tuesday, 3 August 2021, and to mental health support services for police officers.

(1) How many of the following are employed by the Western Australia Police Force for this service —

(a) psychologists; and

(b) psychiatrists?

(2) How much is allocated for the contract services referred to in part (1) of the answer to question without notice 383?

(3) How many chaplains are employed by WAPOL?

(4) What other mental health support services are provided by WAPOL for officers?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for Police.

As is appropriate, given their critical and challenging role, Western Australian police officers can access more mental health support services than ever before.

The Western Australia Police Force advises as follows.

(1) (a) There are 10.

(b) There are one.

(2) The amount allocated is $260 000 per annum.

(3) There are four.

(4) There is the peer support program; employee assistance program, external counselling service; pre-deployment assessments; wellbeing reviews; critical incident response crisis support service; welfare checks; fully funded external treatment for police officers' work-related psychological conditions, with no cap; reimbursement for police officers for non-work-related psychology and psychiatry services, with no cap; visiting regional psychologist program, designated locations; reassimilation program; and Police Family website.
