WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS
463. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Health:
I refer to the registration and
compliance of wastewater treatment systems in Western Australia and changes in
this industry for secondary treatment standards for wastewater.
(1) Are Western Australian
businesses wanting to install secondary wastewater treatment systems expected
to be certified as compliant, as certified to AS1546.7.2017?
(2) If yes to
(1), can they access testing for that compliance in Western Australia?
(3) If no to (2),
are border closures impacting on their ability to access testing elsewhere?
(4) If yes to
(3), will the government now assist with the process to ensure that WA
businesses are not closed due to the impact of having no testing facility in WA
and the border closures from COVID-19?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the Leader of the
Opposition for some notice of the question. I am not sure on behalf of which
minister, but I am providing this answer!
(1) Western Australian
businesses are required to comply with the stated Australian standards when
installing secondary wastewater treatment systems. AS1546.7.2017 does not
exist.
(2)–(4) Not
applicable.
