ELECTORAL IRREGULARITIES —
INVESTIGATION — PILBARA
249. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Electoral Affairs:
I refer to the Electoral
Commissioner's referral on 17 April 2018 of suspected electoral fraud
in the Pilbara to the Western Australia Police Force.
(1) Will the
update from the Electoral Commissioner be made public?
(2) If yes to
(1), when?
(3) Has the
minister received formal notification of the outcome of the inquiry?
(4) If yes to
(3), what was the outcome?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The Electoral Commissioner advises the following.
(1)–(4) To
clarify, the Western Australian Electoral Commission is yet to receive formal
written notification from the Western Australia Police Force about the outcome
of the inquiry but it has been made aware that there is insufficient evidence
to support a prosecution.
