BUNBURY DEVELOPMENT
COMMITTEE
1203. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Planning:
I refer to the Bunbury Development
Committee announced by the Premier on 7 February 2018 and the story in the Bunbury
Herald on Tuesday, 6 November 2018, by journalist Kate Fielding that
identifies that the committee has appointed a subcommittee to investigate the
potential future uses of the Koombana Park site on Koombana Drive.
(1) How often will the subcommittee
meet?
(2) Given the
minister's answer to question without notice 139 asked on 22 March
2018, in which the minister said that the minutes of the Bunbury Development
Committee are to be kept secret, will the minutes of the subcommittee also be
kept secret?
(3) Given that
the site is effectively a car park and a toilet opposite a car park and toilet
facility on the Koombana foreshore site, what additional facilities are needed
on the Koombana Park site?
(4) Will the
subcommittee consider the sale of the site or the transfer of the site to the
City of Bunbury for development or sale in conjunction with the land the city
holds next door?
(5) Will the
subcommittee of the committee report to the committee, or to the ministerial
steering committee for Collie and Bunbury, or to the minister?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The project
working group will meet bimonthly or as is required.
(2) Minutes will
be available to the Bunbury Development Committee.
(3)–(4) The
project working group will make a recommendation to the Bunbury Development
Committee on the revitalisation and redevelopment of Koombana Park, including
the identification of opportunities to develop the remaining portion of the
site.
(5) The project
working group will report to the Bunbury Development Committee.
