Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 192 asked in the Legislative Council on 19 March 2019 by Hon Donna Faragher

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

BYFORD SOUTH EAST PRIMARY SCHOOL

192. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to Byford South East Primary School.

(1) When is construction of the new primary school expected to be completed?

(2) What is the expected total project cost of the school building program at full stage completion?

(3) What are the most recent student enrolment projections for the new school at —

(a) the time of opening; and

(b) for the next five years after the opening date?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) Construction of the school is anticipated to be complete in December 2019, ready for opening for the start of the 2020 school year.

(2) It is $18.9 million.

(3) Enrolment projections are based on 2018 student enrolment data of the existing West Byford Primary School and Woodland Grove Primary School, and planned residential development in the Byford area. These projection estimates are highly indicative, as parents' choice of moving their child from the existing primary schools to the new local primary school will affect the future student enrolments of the new school.

(a) It is 140 students.

(b) It is 200 students in 2021; 260 students in 2022; 400 students in 2023; 565 students in 2024; and 720 students in 2025.
