CORRUPTION AND CRIME
COMMISSIONER — REAPPOINTMENT
408. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Leader of the House representing the Attorney General:
My question without notice is asked
on behalf of Hon Michael Mischin, who is on urgent parliamentary business.
I refer to the Attorney General's
partial answer to my question without notice 385 of 12 May 2020 concerning Hon John
McKechnie's letters to the Attorney General and the Joint Standing
Committee on the Corruption and Crime Commission.
(1) How and when
did the Attorney General pass on each letter to the media?
(2) From whom did
the Attorney General receive a copy of the letter to the joint standing
committee, and when?
(3) Was Mr
McKechnie's consent obtained before each letter was passed to the
media; and, if so, in respect of each letter, when and how?
(4) Will the
Attorney General now table the letters; and, if not, why not?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Both letters
were sent via email. The letter from Mr McKechnie to the Attorney General was
sent to the media on 4 May 2020. The letter from Mr McKechnie to the Joint
Standing Committee on the Corruption and Crime Commission was sent to the media
on 6 May 2020.
(2) It was
received from Mr McKechnie on 4 May 2020.
(3) No.
(4) I table the
letters.
