451. Hon JAMES HAYWARD to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Electoral Affairs:
I refer to the electoral reform
process embarked upon by the state government, which was not on the agenda
immediately prior to the last election.
(1) Have the
costs of the Ministerial Expert Committee on Electoral Reform been finalised?
(2) If yes to (1), can the minister
please detail —
(a) the total cost to date;
(b) the cost of advertising;
(c) the cost of remuneration of committee
members;
(d) the cost of printing and putting
it all together; and
(e) any other costs?
(3) Are there any
outstanding costs for the committee that have not been finalised; and, if yes,
how much is outstanding to date?
Hon
MATTHEW SWINBOURN replied:
I thank the member for some notice
of the question. I provide the following response on behalf of the Minister for
Electoral Affairs.
(1)–(3) The
remuneration of committee members on the Ministerial Expert Committee on
Electoral Reform is provided by the Department
of the Premier and Cabinet. Associated resourcing costs will be included in the
biannual report on consultants engaged by
government, which will be tabled in the Parliament in accordance with
Premier's Circular 2019/06. Executive support for the ministerial
expert committee was provided through the existing resources of the office of
the Minister for Electoral Affairs.
