Minister for Police:
I refer to the introduction of
nonlethal use-of-force options for Western Australia Police Force frontline
officers.
(1) When were tasers first
introduced and how many fatalities have been linked to the use of tasers?
(2) When was pepper spray first introduced and how
many fatalities have been linked to the use of pepper spray?
(3) When was the
current retractable baton introduced and how many fatalities have been linked
to the use of this baton?

some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by
the Minister for Police.
The Western Australia Police Force
advises the following.
(1) In 2007 and there have been zero
fatalities.
(2) In 1998 and there have been zero
fatalities.
(3) In 1999 and there have been zero
fatalities.
