Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 1371 asked in the Legislative Council on 20 November 2019 by Hon Dr Steve Thomas

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

KOOMBANA CAR PARK PROJECT

1371. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Minister for Regional Development:

I refer to the $11.5 million Koombana car park project in Bunbury, including $3.5 million for an accessible toilet block, and my questions without notice of June 2017, March 2018, November 2018 and February 2019 on this topic.

(1) Has a toilet block now been built on this site?

(2) If no to (1), will a toilet block be constructed, at what cost and when will it be completed?

(3) Given the minister's answer to question without notice 62 asked on 14 February this year that the detailed design had commenced and Building Management and Works was preparing estimates that would be available six weeks from that date, were those milestones completed?

(4) If yes to (3), what was the estimated cost according to BMW?

(5) If no to (3), why not?

(6) What has the subcommittee of the Bunbury Development Committee recommended for the toilet proposed for this site, and how often has the subcommittee met this year?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the member for the question. I am sorry; I do not know whether we have got a full enough answer for the member. I will give him what I have to date.

(1)–(6) It is expected that the toilet block will be constructed on the Mangrove Cove site in the second half of 2020. The current cost estimate for the toilet block is $350 000. The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is responsible for delivery of the toilet block and associated infrastructure. The subcommittee of the Bunbury Development Committee has met four times this year, has been briefed on the project and supports the proposal.
