POLICE — IPHONES
600. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I
refer the minister to the media release of 7 November 2019 titled ''WA
Police officers given personal issue iPhone 11's to fight crime''.
(1) Has every frontline officer now
been provided with a new iPhone; and, if not, why not?
(2) What was the total cost of the
iPhone distribution?
(3) How much of the $90 million has
been spent on technology and for what purpose?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Police. The Western Australia Police Force advises the
following.
(1) Yes.
(2) The total cost was $8 949 720.
(3) The funding
provided has been invested in a range of technologies, including digital
mobility, body-worn cameras, automatic numberplate
recognition technology and upgraded digital infrastructure at police stations.
