Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 503 asked in the Legislative Council on 26 June 2018 by Hon Tim Clifford

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

ABORIGINAL HERITAGE — MADDINGTON–KENWICK STRATEGIC EMPLOYMENT AREA
      503. Hon TIM CLIFFORD to the minister representing the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs:
I refer to question without notice 473, asked on 14 June.
      (1) Given that clearing of precinct 3a of the Maddington–Kenwick strategic employment area occurred without an Aboriginal survey taking place first, will the government investigate whether the City of Gosnells or other parties have breached the WA Aboriginal Heritage Act?
      (2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If yes to (1), will the government please outline the expected time frame and actions?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following information has been provided by the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.
(1)–(3) The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage has not received any complaint regarding a potential breach of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 with respect to the clearing of precinct 3a of the Maddington–Kenwick strategic employment area.
