Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 288 asked in the Legislative Council on 3 April 2019 by Hon Donna Faragher

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING — VETIS CONSULTING SERVICES

288. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to the answer given to question without notice 147, asked on 13 March 2019, relating to VETiS Consulting Services.

(1) Can the minister confirm whether TAFE has taken the responsibility of auspicing the assessment of all qualifications previously undertaken by VETiS?

(2) If no to (1), which qualifications are TAFE unable to offer auspicing services for?

(3) For each of the qualifications referred to in (2), how many schools offer courses relevant to those qualifications?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. This response refers to public schools.

(1) TAFE has not taken all this responsibility because, although some of the qualifications are broad in nature, they include specialisations that TAFE is unable to support. All schools delivering qualifications that TAFE cannot auspice have been assisted to find alternative private registered training organisations to partner with for the delivery of these qualifications.

(2)–(3) TAFE is unable to provide auspice services for the following qualifications: for CUA20113, certificate II in dance, it is seven schools; for CUA20715, certificate II in visual arts (wood context), it is four schools; for CUA31115, certificate III in visual arts (furniture context), it is one school; and for CUA20215, certificate II in creative industries (live production context), it is five schools.
