DUST EMISSIONS — MOBILE CONCRETING SOLUTIONS QUARRY — TOM PRICE

1379. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the minister representing the Minister for Mines and Petroleum:

I refer to the quarry owned by Mobile Concreting Solutions at Bingarn Road, Tom Price, and the immense amount of dust released as a result of the quarry's operation.

(1) Is the minister aware of the numerous health concerns expressed by residents of Tom Price and traditional owners regarding the significant dust problem from the quarry?

(2) Will the minister initiate an investigation into the significant dust emissions coming from Mobile Concreting Solutions' operations, located on mining leases M47/1462 and L47/423?

(3) Will the minister please table the air quality data pertaining to the two leases referred to at (2) over the past five years?

(4) Is the minister aware of the extensive rock engravings within mining tenement M47/1462?

(5) Does the minister agree that this aerosolised rock coming from MCS facilities presents a potential threat to the longevity of the rock art in this area?

(1) No.

(2) On the basis of current advice, no.

(3) No, this data was not available to me.

(4) No.

(5) I agree that mining activities have the potential to present a threat to heritage sites.
