(1) How many shipping containers—twenty-foot
equivalent units—arrived at North Wharf, Fremantle, by train for export
and departed North Wharf for local destinations by train in each of the last
three financial years?
(2) Were all
these shipping containers subsidised by the state government; and, if not all,
how many were subsidised?

I thank the member for the question.
(1) The total
number of shipping containers—twenty-foot equivalent units—that
arrived and departed North Wharf, Fremantle, by rail over the last three
financial years is outlined as follows. The number of exports in 2016–17
was 62 600; in 2017–18, 69 416; and in 2018–19, 90 755. The
number of imports in 2016–17 was 45 822; in 2017–18, 54 337;
and in 2018–19, 67 242.
(2) The total number of container movements by rail
subsidised by the state government is outlined as follows. The number of
subsidised exports in 2016–17 was 45 718; in 2017–18, 53 418;
and in 2018–19, 77 411. The number of subsidised imports in 2016–17
was 32 862; in 2017–18, 33 971; and in 2018–19, 41 176.
