ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
AUTHORITY — MINISTERIAL CONDITIONS
161. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the
Minister for Environment:
(1) Why is the
Minister for Environment yet to receive a response to the request for the
Environmental Protection Authority to inquire into the adequacy of amended
implementation condition 19 of the ''Wheatstone Development—Gas
Processing, Export Facilities and Infrastructure: Shire of Ashburton and
Roebourne'', statement 873, as amended by 922, despite the request being
lodged on 2 January 2018?
(2) When does the
minister expect to receive a response to that request?
(3) Will the minister request an inquiry into the
implementation conditions of the North West Shelf development ''with respect to avoiding, reducing and
offsetting greenhouse gas emissions'', just as the minister requested
occur for the Gorgon gas development on 22 January 2022?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer is provided on behalf of the
Minister for Environment.
(1)–(3) I
am informed that the Environmental Protection Authority is currently working to
deliver contemporary greenhouse gas ministerial conditions for a number of
high-emitting projects, including Wheatstone, Gorgon, Pluto and the North West
Shelf development. I expect to receive the EPA's recommendations to
contemporise these conditions before the end of the year.
