Question

I refer to Berth 3 at the port of Port Hedland, and ask:

(a) can the Minister advise what measures are being undertaken by the Pilbara Port Authority to rehabilitate or replace Berth 3;
(b) what is the proposed cost of the rehabilitation/replacement;
(c) has a business case been prepared and, if so, when will it receive consideration by the Government; and
(d) what is the role of Berth 3?

    1. Tenders have been called for the Berth 3 deck replacement.
    2. $33.8 million.
    3. Yes. The business case was approved by Government in July 2017.
    4. Berth 3 is used primarily for salt exports by Dampier Salt (a joint venture between Rio Tinto (68 per cent), Marubeni Corporation (22 per cent), and Sojitz (10 per cent), and for imports of fuel.
