395. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the minister's
decision to request the Environmental Protection Authority to review the
environmental conditions regarding the Koolyanobbing Range F deposit.
(1) Why did the minister request the EPA inquire into
and report on whether the implementation conditions 8, 9 and 10 should
be changed?
(2) Was the
minister's decision to request the EPA inquire into and report on
whether the implementation conditions 8, 9 and 10 should be changed as a result
of a request from Mineral Resources?
(3) If yes to (2), on what date did Mineral Resources write
to the minister requesting the changes?
(4) Will the minister table a copy of the letter from Mineral
Resources; and, if not, why not?

I thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of the
question.

I requested the Environmental Protection Authority inquire into conditions 8, 9
and 10 of ministerial statement 1054, in accordance with section 46 of the
Environmental Protection Act 1986, in response to Mineral Resources Ltd seeking
a review of these conditions.
(3) On 8
February 2019, my office received the request by Mineral Resources Ltd dated 7 February
2019.
