Parliament: 40 Session: 1

COLLIE SOLAR FARM

254. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Minister for Regional Development:

I refer to the McGowan government's 2017 election commitment for a $30 million Collie solar farm.

(1) Will the solar farm project in Collie be continuing?

(2) Has any solar resource assessment been conducted for the Collie solar farm; and, if so, will the minister table the assessment?

(3) Where is the location of the Collie solar farm, has the site been secured, and when will construction commence?

(4) How many regional people are currently employed for the delivery of the $30 million Collie solar farm project; and, upon completion, how many local people will be employed at the Collie site of the solar farm?

(5) What is the anticipated generation capacity of the Collie solar farm, and how will that generation be utilised in the Shire of Collie?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the member for the question.

(1)–(2) A pre-feasibility study on the potential for a solar farm has been completed. The results of the study are still under consideration by government.

(3)–(5) Not applicable.
