Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 661 asked in the Legislative Council on 10 October 2017 by Hon Martin Aldridge

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

GERALDTON HOSPITAL — SCOPING STUDY AND BUSINESS CASE
      661. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the article headed ''Geraldton Hospital funding delay unavoidable: Premier'' published on Friday, 6 October 2017, in The Geraldton Guardian online.
(1) When is the proposed scoping study expected to commence?
(2) How much will the study cost and who will conduct it?
(3) When will the business case be ready for consideration by cabinet?
      (4) To what extent, if any, will the midwest health and wellbeing report inform the scoping study and business case?
Hon SAMANTHA ROWE replied:
On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
      (1) The WA Country Health Service has commenced developing a business case that will articulate the scope of works.
      (2) The business case development is being undertaken by the WA Country Health Service, with assistance from the Department of Finance and Building Management and Works. The final cost associated with the business case development is not known at this time but, as is usual practice, these costs, once known, will be funded from within the overall approved capital works budget.
      (3) The Geraldton Hospital redevelopment business case is expected to be finalised in the coming months and will be submitted for consideration by government thereafter.
      (4) Numerous internal and external planning documents are expected to be considered as part of the business case development.
