Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 104 asked in the Legislative Council on 20 February 2019 by Hon Alison Xamon

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

FOETAL ALCOHOL SPECTRUM DISORDER

104. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Leader of the House representing the Premier:

I note the release of the ''National Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Strategic Action Plan 2018–2028''.

(1) Does the government intend to develop a whole-of-government state foetal alcohol spectrum disorder strategy or action plan?

(2) If yes to (1), when?

(3) If no to (1), why not?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(3) The government is currently developing a whole-of-government response to the coroner's inquest into the 13 deaths of children and young people in the Kimberley region, of which six recommendations relate specifically to foetal alcohol spectrum disorder. The government's approach to FASD will be developed as part of the response to the coroner's inquest.
