PUBLIC SECTOR — INDUSTRIAL AGREEMENT
707. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the
Minister for Industrial Relations:
I refer to media reports and the minister's interview
on radio 6PR this morning regarding the government's offer to the
Community and Public Sector Union–Civil Service Association of WA with
respect to the next industrial agreement relevant to public service and general
government officers.
(1) How many
employees are covered by the industrial agreement presently and how many
employees are likely to be so covered throughout the life of the next
agreement?
(2) What is the cumulative monetary value of a single day
worked by these employees presently?
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN
replied:
I thank the member for the question. The following
information has been provided by the Minister for Industrial Relations.
(1) Approximately 31 800 employees, headcount, are
covered by the Public Service and Government Officers CSA General
Agreement 2017. It is not possible to project the future public service
workforce size.
(2) A
calculation of the cumulative monetary value is a complex matter and cannot be
provided in the time available. Such a calculation
would need to account for variables including the current level and increment
of the workforce profile, staff vacancy rates, as well as payment of specific
allowances and entitlements.
