Question
(1) I
refer to question on notice 2929, regarding Water Police
vessels 1-7, and I ask:
(a) what
was the purchase cost of each vessel; and
(b) what
is the expected replacement cost?
(2) I
refer to vessels 6 and 7, which are now close to or have exceeded their expected
useful life for police operations, and I ask:
(a) when
will each vessel be replaced;
(b) how
will replacement vessels be determined;
(c) what
is the expected replacement costs for these vessels; and
(d) has
the Western Australia Police Force or the State Government commissioned a review or report on
marine capability and, if so, will the Minister please identify the author, date, and table a copy?

The Western Australia Police Force advise:
(1)
(a) Vessel 1 - $2 213 465, Vessel 2 - $472 726, Vessel 3 - $429 423, Vessel 4 - $403 091, Vessel 5 - $208 546, Vessel 6 - $198 810 and Vessel 7 - $33 421.
(b) Estimates as follows: Vessel 1 - $3 500 000, Vessel 2 - $500 000, Vessel 3 - $600 000, Vessel 4 - $600 000, Vessel 5 - $500 000, Vessel 6 - $500 000 and Vessel 7 - $50 000.
(2)
(a) Estimated to be in 2020-21
(b) WA Police Force will select.
(c) Please see response to (1)(b).
(d) There has been no formal review or report conducted by the WA Police Force. I understand that the Director General of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet conducted a broader Government Marine Vessel Review.
