Question

(1) How many cruise ships used the berths of the port of Port Hedland for the years 2015-16 and 2016-17?

(2) How many cruise ships are anticipated in 2017-18?
(3) Does the State Government support the use of the port of Port Hedland for the purpose of encouraging visits by cruise ships?
(4) If yes to (3), has the Government instructed the Pilbara Port Authority of this policy position?
(5) What incentives, if any, has the Government provided to encourage cruise ships to berth at the port of Port Hedland?

(3) Yes

(4)-(5) PPA has been a member of the Tourism WA Cruise Committee since 2012 and works closely with the Town of Port Hedland to promote cruise ship visits to Port Hedland. As demand increases, PPA will work with the tourism industry to accommodate more cruise ships.
