Question Without Notice No. 482 asked in the Legislative Council on 24 August 2017 by Hon Charles Smith

Minister responding: Hon S.M. Ellery
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
Answered on 24 August 2017

DEPARTMENT OF TRAINING AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT — 400 VISA HOLDERS
      482. Hon CHARLES SMITH to the Minister for Education and Training:
Bearing in mind the government's pre-election mantra to put Western Australians in jobs first —
(a) How many foreign workers are currently undertaking work within WA on a 400-class visa?
(b) Under what streams were their visas granted?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question, but it is directed to the wrong jurisdiction.
The commonwealth government, through the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, administers all visas, including the 400 subclass. The Department of Training and Workforce Development does not hold this information.
