EAST PERTH POWER STATION —
CONTINUING PROTECTION ORDER
842. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Heritage:
I refer to the East Perth power
station.
(1) Will the minister confirm that
he removed the continuing protection order?
(2) If yes to (1), why did he remove
the continuing protection order?
(3) If yes to
(1), did he consult with the Heritage Council of Western Australia before
removing the protection order; and, if not, why not?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes, it was removed by a revocation
order gazetted on 9 August 2019.
(2) The need for the
continuing protection order was superseded by the registration of the East
Perth power station on the state Register of Heritage Places.
(3) The revocation of the protection
order was on the recommendation of the Heritage Council.
