Question Without Notice No. 925 asked in the Legislative Council on 5 December 2017 by Hon Jacqui Boydell

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

GOVERNMENT REGIONAL OFFICERS' HOUSING — RENTS
      925. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the minister representing the Minister for Housing:
I refer to the ongoing review of Government Regional Officers' Housing rents.
      (1) Is this a standard three-yearly review, as detailed in the ''Government Regional Officers' Housing, Tenant Rent Setting Framework Policy''?
(2) Will the rent-setting mechanism be examined as a part of the ongoing review?
(3) When is the review due to be completed?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) No.
      (3) Rents for the 2017–18 financial year were calculated in August 2016 and are based on the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia's assessment of Perth median rents from April to June 2016. The former Housing Authority, which is now part of the Department of Communities, wrote to client agencies in February 2017 advising them of the updated rents for each dwelling, which took effect from 1 July 2017.
