ASBESTOS — NUMBALA NUNGA NURSING HOME — DERBY
      657. Hon KEN BASTON to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the fire at the old Numbala Nunga nursing home on Sutherland Street in Derby, which occurred on Sunday, 17 September, which is over three weeks ago.
(1) Are there concerns about loose asbestos at this site?
(2) Who is responsible for this site?
(3) How soon is clearance of this site likely to occur?
Hon SAMANTHA ROWE replied:
On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
      (1) No. All concerns about asbestos have been managed in accordance with asbestos management guidelines and by a licensed contractor.
(2) The WA Country Health Service is responsible for the site.
(3) Demolition works are intended to commence within two months.
