VIOLENCE RESTRAINING ORDERS

780. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the Minister for Police:

My question is to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Community Services.

(1) Can the minister please tell me how many violence restraining orders are currently in place in Western Australia?

(2) How many of those VROs are related to domestic violence cases?

(3) How many VROs are in place against —

(a) males; and

(b) females?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

This question actually has been answered by the Minister for Police who would have the numbers for violence restraining orders.

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister for Police.

(2) The Western Australia Police Force advises that as at 7 August 2019, there are 10 110 family violence restraining orders recorded by the Western Australia Police Force as being in force.

(3) Of the violence restraining orders in force —

(a) 11 837 are recorded as being in place against males; and

(b) 3 169 are recorded as being in place against females.
