Minister responding: Hon D.A. Templeman
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Answered on 4 September 2019

968. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Local Government:

I refer to the McGowan Labor government's decision to sack the City of Perth council and appoint commissioners.

(1) What is the total amount paid to each of the commissioners since their appointment?

(2) Are the councillors eligible for additional sitting fees for appointment to regional councils, statutory bodies and external organisations, boards and committees?

(3) If yes to (2), what is the total additional amount paid to each commissioner since their appointment?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) Commissioner Lumsden, who resigned, was paid $455 380.99; deputy chair, Commissioner Hammond, $426 082.08; chair, Commissioner McMath, $444 520.96; and Commissioner Kosova, nil.

(2)–(3) Suspended councillors are not eligible for additional fees according to section 8.30B(4) of the Local Government Act 1995.

Commissioners are eligible for sitting fees. The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries does not maintain a centralised register of all external organisations, boards and committees, regional councils and/or statutory bodies where commissioners may hold positions.
