COMMISSIONER FOR CHILDREN
AND YOUNG PEOPLE — APPOINTMENT
345. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I
refer to the appointment of the next Commissioner for Children and Young
People, which is being undertaken with the assistance of the Public
Sector Commission. Can the Premier confirm whether the selection and
appointment process for the next commissioner is as advised in the ''Application
and Process Guide'' released as part of the recruitment process?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
Yes; the process is as advised in
the guide. However, in addition to a standard selection panel, the Public
Sector Commission is engaging young people in accordance with section 7(3) of
the Commissioner for Children and Young
People Act 2006, which requires children and young people to be involved in the
selection process for the appointment of the Commissioner for Children
and Young People. This has been the process for previous commissioners. The
purpose of the guide is to provide general information about the process for
prospective applicants. It does not prescribe a specific process.
