Question Directed to the: Minister for Environment representing the Minister for Energy
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
Question
(1) Is the Minister aware that the large community of Mowanjum has a significant investment in solar PV which is not currently working because Horizon Power staff swtiched it off?
(2) Will the Minister advise the House why this occured and what Horizon Power is doing to assist the community to remedy the situation?
(3) If no to (1) and/or (2), why not?
Answered on 28 August 2018
(1) Yes
(2) The system was switched off because it was deemed to be in an unsafe condition. Horizon Power is not a licensed electrical contractor and is therefore not authorised to undertake works on consumer installations. However, Horizon Power provided contact details of a qualified contractor to arrange an inspection and a quote to return the solar panels to full working order.
Horizon Power looks forward to the system being reinstated as soon as the necessary repairs have been undertaken.
(3) Not relevant
