QUARANTINE ADVISORY PANEL
233. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the
Minister for Health:
I refer to the Quarantine Advisory Panel.
(1) Has the QAP now met to provide advice to government on
quarantine and associated arrangements?
(2) If yes to (1), please table the minutes of all meetings
held since its inception.
(3) Can the minister table the schedule of future QAP meeting
dates?
(4) Has or
will the panel be asked to provide its expert advice to —
(a) Healthcare Australia as the
new private manager of hotel quarantine;
(b) the Chief Health Officer; or
(c) the minister?

replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) No.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) The first
meeting is expected to take place in the week beginning 14 June 2021. Meetings
will be held as determined by the QAP; however, the frequency of meetings will
not be less than one meeting every calendar month. The chair will determine
whether a meeting on an earlier date is possible in conjunction with the other
members.
(4) (a)–(c)
As per the terms of reference, the QAP reports to the chief executive officer
of the Department of Health as the hazard management agency for human epidemic,
as prescribed in the Emergency Management Regulations 2006. The QAP may, in
limited circumstances, and if considered necessary and appropriate, or at the
request of the Minister for Health or the Security and Emergency Committee of
Cabinet, provide concurrent advice to the CEO of the Department of Health and
the Minister for Health.
