REGIONAL SPONSORED MIGRATION SCHEME
267. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and Training:
I refer to the regional sponsored migration scheme and the suspension of all new applications for the Perth region since 13 March 2017. Who suspended the processing of new applications for the Perth region on 13 March 2017 and under what authority was this decision undertaken?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
The Department of Training and Workforce Development is the regional certifying body appointed by the commonwealth government's Department of Immigration and Border Protection for certifications under the regional sponsored migration scheme for all regions in Western Australia except the goldfields–Esperance region. Under its authority as an RCB, the department suspended the processing of new applications for the Perth region on 13 March 2017.
