Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 620 asked in the Legislative Council on 2 September 2021 by Hon Colin De Grussa

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

PERTH ROYAL SHOW — PUBLIC TRANSPORT

620. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to the upcoming Perth Royal Show, specifically to travel and parking logistics to and from the showgrounds.

(1) Has or will the government consider subsidising public transport to the Perth Royal Show this year as was the case under the previous Liberal–National government?

(2) Will any extra transport services be in place to ensure that parking is not a concern?

(3) Given the use of the showgrounds as a vaccination venue and the impact of the show events on parking, will there be an advertising campaign to encourage Western Australians to catch public transport to the show?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) As part of the state government's $4 million funding package to the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia for this year's Royal Show, ticket prices will be reduced by 25 per cent. The state government is providing additional public transport required to support this event at no cost to the event organiser.

(2)–(3) Yes.
